The ‘Inner Worlds’ film series visits creatives in the places that inspire them

Jiang Qiong Er is a Chinese artist, designer, and entrepreneur based in Paris. Renowned for her ability to merge traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern sensibilities, she has carved a distinct niche in the contemporary design world. Born into a family with a rich artistic heritage, Jiang Qiong Er was surrounded by art and design from an early age. ‘I was born immersed in ink,’ she says. Her upbringing fostered her deep appreciation for craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

In this episode of ‘Inner Worlds’, Art Basel visits the artist in her private home in the heart of Rive Gauche, Paris. ‘To me, art is emotional,’ she says. ‘In one hand, I have a big but invisible brush called Time, and in the other hand, I have another one called Emotion. Those are the giant brushes that I create with.’

Jiang Qiong Er’s artistic practice bridges cultural divides, bringing the richness of Chinese heritage to a global audience. ‘Between Paris and Shanghai, I feel at home in both,’ she adds. ‘China is the root that grounds me, while the wings France has given me allow me the magnificent freedom to create as an artist.’
